Queens Sports Club

Queens Sports Club is a multi-purpose stadium in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. It is used mostly for cricket matches. The stadium holds 13,000. The club is one of two homegrounds for the Matabeleland Cricket Team Tuskers. The other Matabeleland ground in Bulawayo is the Bulawayo Athletic Club. Queen's Sports Club was established in 1894, but no first-class cricket was played here between 1984 and 1994, as the ground was in a state of disrepair. After renovation, it became Zimbabwe's third test venue. Queen's Sports Club is Zimbabwe's second ground behind Harare Sports Club and a constant on the itinerary of any touring side. Situated close to the city centre, it is one of international cricket's loveliest venues with an old pavilion and surrounded by trees which give shade to spectators. Much of the ground consists of grass banking and its capacity of 13,000 is more than enough to cope with demand. QSC became Zimbabwe's third Test venue in October 1994.

Rugby

Bulawayo has three main rugby teams that compete in the national rugby league, namely Matabeleland Busters, Old Miltonians and Western Panthers. All three teams play their home matches Hartsfield Rugby ground.

Cricket

Cricket is a sport that is proving to be quite popular in Bulawayo, with many different clubs such as Bulawayo Athletics Club and Queens Sports Club amongst others. Matabeleland Tuskers is a franchise team that represents the City of Kings.

Gym

When feeling the need to have a lean body, tone fat or build muscle, one is spoilt for choice with the gym and fitness studios available in Bulawayo. The city has man work-out centers that offer different from training methods, from weight lifting to cardio classes.

Swimming

There are several swimming clubs in Bulawayo and three main swimming pools. All clubs compete at national and provincial galas where national and provincial teams are selected respectively. The provincial swimming galas take place at Borrow Street Swimming Pool.

Golf

For the more mature, Bulawayo has three Golf courses. The City also has the privilege of having the oldest golf club, named Bulawayo Golf Club, which was established in 1895. All three golf courses are wonderfully maintained with beautiful green lawns and well cut trees.

Soccer

This is the most popular sport in the city, with many people playing soccer, whether socially or competitively. The city has the privilege of currently being represented by two teams in the Premier Soccer League, namely Hihlanders and Bantu Rovers. There is one major soccer stadium known as Bourberfields, which is located in the Mzilikazi suburb. Many open fields come alive during the weekend as lower division teams and social teams, take to the playing field.
